In year 2 children can begin to critically evaluate short films and animations. They can use software such as 2Animate to understand the process of building a moving image frame by frame. 3-d Scenery can be made using shoe boxes and children can use playmobile figures or plasticine figures to move around the scenery and experiment with stop-frame animation. At this stage children are capable of writing short scripts and story boards.

They are also able to evaluate each others work and discuss what they like and what could be improved in the short films.
