Group Project
Year 5
Children by now will have an understanding of the different roles in a film making team.
In year 5 they will learn more about how to plan a film on a story board, write a script, organsie resources and use basic editing techniques.
Children can be shown how to interview people using closed and open questions and different shots.
Specific terminology can be used so that they have a film vocabulary. When looking at short films, they need to be able to identify different camera shots and understand their impact on the audience. This can be introduced using stills.
They could now begin to look at different genres and make a documentary, using interview techniques. At this point, children could experiment with sound editing and cut out key words or phrases to alter the answer to a question. They could compare different versions of the same interview.
Children need to be able to appreciate the power of the image and to have some understanding of photographic journalism and art.
They could look at famous photographers work and the techniques used.
They can construct and juxtapose images for effect using photographic software such as Paintshop pro.
